Have you ever wondered how the first electric motorcycle came to be? Whether you are a big motorcycle fan or simply interested in how the automobile industry produced the first electrically-charged motorcycles, grab a bucket of popcorn and enjoy Mark Neale’s movie Charge. Not only does the movie take you on a spin on board the birth of electric motorcycles, the movie is narrated by no less than the sultry voice of Ewan McGregor.
Charge tells the challenges and success of the teams that took on the death-defying challenge of making the fastest laps around the Snaefell Mountain Course which is about 37.7 mile long. To make the challenge more interesting, the teams decided to do it by producing motorcycles that were once just fantasies, thus the birth of the electric ones.
The film chronicles the tales of Michael Czysz’s MotoCzysz and Team Agni’s Cedric Lynch, who was one of the pioneer designers of the electric motorbikes used by the teams that took on the course at Snaefell Mountain. Though the movie sort of fast forwards to different events from the Snaefell Mountain Course to the TT Zero to Manxland, the movie chronicles the wonderful evolution of automobile technology that made everything possible today.
So far, Mark Neale’s Charge is only available in Canada and the U.S. and can be downloaded from the film’s website. For a different kind of ride, catch the film and get engaged in how the electric automobiles started and how technology stems from man’s imagination.
